Music: First Steps Into Sunken Glades & Ancestral Tress from Ori and the Blind Forest
For this project, I white boxed and design a level with two distinct areas/environments using either provided or personally purchased asset packs. The asset packs I ended up using were a MOBA Tower Defense Pack and a Low Poly Caverns pack. The two environments I decided to create were a cave and a forest. I researched inspiration on Pinterest to get an idea of a visual target to strive for, also keeping an eye out for art styles that were close to the aesthetic of the asset packs I chose.
The Design Process
Edited materials and created material instances to get the proper colors and emissives I needed in combination with lighting
Used the landscape tool and layered landscape painting to paint the proper ground textures for the cave and forest
Utilized the foliage tool to paint on large groups of plants
Made blueprints to add bounce to the floating rocks, and rotation to the end crystal
Created a level fly through using the level sequencer
Used lighting and landscape painting as a means to indirectly guide the player through the level
